This summer, instead of finding the perfect pair of shoes to match your outfit, you may want to redirect your attention to finding the perfect mask, as the CDC recommends that people continue to wear one to help contain the spread of coronavirus. You may not be able to go to large gatherings this year, but picnics in the park with small groups of people certainly aren’t canceled, and you’ll need a mask that is both fashionable and functional when you go.
Sheila Coates, founder of BYOB (Be Your Own Brand) Unlimited, just launched the hottest (or should we say the most refreshing?) mask of 2020: The Drinking Mask. Essentially, it’s a face-covering designed to allow you to sip on your water, lemonade, or to-go cocktail without having to remove it. The trick is you have to use a straw, as the Drinking Mask has a small opening right where your mouth is underneath the fabric.

The Drinking Mask has adjustable ear straps so it fits snugly to your face (because a loose face-covering defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?). It’s made of a stretchy, soft, breathable, and machine-washable material, and the drinking hole is grommeted so it won’t be damaged by your straw. There’s also an inside flap that keeps the hole covered when you’re not sipping away in order to keep germs and—for those who have bad allergies—pollen out.
The drinking Mask currently comes in three different colors: black, grey, and white. For restaurants, bars, and/or food companies, you can have your company’s logo or tagline printed on the front for a totally customized look. (Keep in mind if your mask has a logo on it, it’s best to hand-wash it.)
So far, Coates has sold 2,000 masks, which go for $50 for a pack of four on BYOBdrinkingmask.com. A portion of the proceeds is going to children in underserved communities. This sure is one way to stay both hydrated and safe this summer!
