Dr. Fauci Warns These States Will Have Next Surge

COVID-19 cases are rising in 29 states. That’s why this pandemic is nowhere near over, although it once appeared that way. In response, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief medical advisor to the President and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, appeared on The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer to issue a warning, about certain areas of America that are in more danger than others—and it’s a message we all need to hear. Read on for five life-saving pieces of advice, and to ensure your health and the health of others, don’t miss these Sure Signs You Have “Long” COVID and May Not Even Know It.

Dr. Fauci Warned These Areas Are in Danger—and its Residents Should Get Vaccinated

Dr. Fauci was asked if he’s worried about the Delta variant. “I’m very disturbed by the fact that there’s a substantial proportion of people in the country, generally, geographically and ideologically localized, who don’t want to get vaccinated and it just doesn’t make any sense,” said Dr. Fauci. “So what I worry about is, I worry about those individuals and the community in which they live. Where as the Delta variant becomes more dominant and it’s at least 50% dominant across the country—and in some places it’s as high as 70 plus percent dominant—we know it transmits much more efficiently than the original virus. And it very likely has a greater degree of pathogenicity, which means it can make you more sick. So I’m concerned as this variant becomes more dominant, those areas, those select areas of the country that have a very low level of vaccination, like 30% or so, you’re going to start seeing mini surges that are to certain regions.” The regions include parts of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, among others.

Dr. Fauci Said Those Who Are Unvaccinated are “Very Much at Risk”

“You don’t want to see two separate Americas,” worried Fauci, “one that’s vaccinated and protected, and yet another that’s un-vaccinated and very much at risk. You want to see the entire country protected with a blanket of protection by widespread vaccination. That’s what we really want to say.”

Will we need COVID-19 booster shots, like we’ll need flu booster shots? It’s “entirely conceivable,” said Dr. Fauci, adding that the decision will be made “by gathering information, analyzing the information and” they will “make the determination what’s best for individuals.” He said: “What we will likely see is not something that’s uni-dimensional because it is conceivable, if not quite likely, that elderly and those with underlying conditions, particularly those, for example, who are on medications that might diminish the robustness of their immune response, those individuals might get a recommendation to get a boost to before in otherwise healthy 35-year-old person. I don’t think it’s going to just be a broad across the board recommendation when it comes and it hasn’t come yet.” He downplayed the fact that Pfizer announced that the efficacy of the shot lessens after six months, saying the CDC and FDA would be studying the data.

Dr. Fauci Said Kids Should Go Back to School in the Fall—and This Age of Kid Should Wear a Mask

“The message from the CDC is clear and I totally agree with them,” said Dr. Fauci. “We want all the children back in in-person classes in the full term, for sure. And we want to do everything we can to make sure that happens. Now, obviously, depending upon the age of the children, some will be vaccinated. Some not those who are not vaccinated should be wearing masks. The CDC says they’d like to maintain the three foot distance. And if they can’t, they’re going to work around to do other things, make sure there’s good ventilation, make sure you have the facilities to be able to keep people safe in, in places, for example, lunch rooms and things like that. So the message is loud and clear. Come the fall. We want the children back in school in person.” And those under 12 should WEAR A MASK.
